My research focuses on the interface of language, gesture, cognition, culture and multimodal interaction. Present fields of research include a „grammar“ of coverbal gestures with their neuro-cogntive and evolutionary foundations, as well as the cognitive foundations of metaphor usage. Both fields of research suggest themselves when documenting spoken language also in its visual and semantic dimensions.
