Studies at Viadria
The study of social and cultural sciences is characterized by its interconnection of research and instruction, an innovative interdisciplinary course of study, and an international focus. The European University Viadrina is a small university with an intimate atmosphere, where individual advising und personal mentoring are important components in all programs of study. In addition to the good advising and mentoring available at Viadrina, students in Frankfurt (Oder) find optimal conditions for productive learning and discovery of new horizons and opportunities because of the small seminar sizes offered here.
Bachelor of Arts
A course of study in the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences is comprised of a broad spectrum of bachelor’s degree programs and associated, specialized master’s degree programs. For the Bachelor of Arts, students choose from the subjects Cultural History, Literature, Linguistics und Comparative Social Sciences; they attend introductory and advanced level classes. In addition, Viadrina offers practically-oriented seminars, an intensive foreign language education and multiple possibilities for studying abroad.
Master of Arts
The four interdisciplinary master’s degree programs European Cultural History, Intercultural Communication Studies, Socio-cultural Studies and Culture and History of Central and Eastern Europe offer students the ability to subsequently examine the grand questions of cultural sciences in-depth along with acquiring applied specialization.
The courses of study offered by the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences are complemented by advanced master’s degree programs and participation in international co-operations.
