Bridge course for new students in WS 2016/2017

In the coming winter semester 2016/2017, we would like to organise a so-called "bridge course" for newly enrolled students during the introductory week - by students for students - on 4 and 5 October 2016 in LH 101/102. The aim of the bridge course is to make it easier for the "newcomers" to get started by giving them an insight into studying at the Viadrina. We are still looking for students who are willing and have the time to help organise this. If you are interested, please contact us at mes_students@europa-uni.de. You will receive 3 ECTS credits and a small monetary compensation.

MES Committee Meeting

Excursion to Cyprus
07.-11.07.2015

From 7-11 July 2015, 15 MES students went on an excursion to Cyprus. The thematic focus was the inner-Cypriot conflict, its consequences for the Republic of Cyprus and the consequences for Turkey's accession negotiations to the EU. The aim of the study trip was to give the students an insight into the inner-Cypriot conflict, which has dominated everyday life and politics on the island for over 40 years now. Through the exchange with Cypriot and German experts, the development of the conflict since the invasion by Turkish forces should be made tangible. At the same time, the consequences of the conflict for Turkey's EU accession ambitions will be discussed. The programme also includes an examination of everyday life in Nicosia - the last divided city in Europe. Border crossings to the northern part of the country, a meeting with Cypriot students from the Goethe-Institut, explorations of other regions and visits to cultural and historical sites are planned.
