The research project consists of different subprojects.

One of the main academic undertakings of the chair is to add a view of the literary culture and communication of German Jews during National Socialist Germany to the long-time existing research about the literature of antifascist exile, the so called inner emigration and National Socialist literature. The rewriting of the history of German-language literature after the year 1933 as well as the development of a multimedia "Digital Archive of Jewish Authors in Berlin 1933-1945" (DAJAB) and the research of literary and cultural developments during National Socialism are the tasks of the chair.

subproject within the scope of a joined research project: Confrontations au national-socialisme en Europe francophone et germanophone (1919-1949)/confrontactions with National Socialism in German- and French-speaking Europe (1919-1949)

The research project folllows the research programme about the intellectual history and German- and French-language press carried out by the Centre d’Études Germaniques Interculturelles de Lorraine (CEGIL) since the 1990s. It aims to contribute to the political and cultural history of Europe in the 20th century. The project is led by Olivier Dard (UMR IRICE), Michel Grunewald (Université de Lorraine, CEGIL) and Uwe Puschner (Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut, Freie Universität Berlin / CEGIL).
