Description

The journalist Harald von Troschke (1924-2009) conducted many interviews in the 60s, 70s and 80s with individuals in sciences, politics, film, theatre, music and literature. Many of them emigrated during the National Socialism period to the US, othes were representatives of the intellectual life in the Federal Republic of Germany. The interviews were broadcasted in series about eyewitnesses in radio shows.

Troschke talked in over 230 interviews with among others to Max Born, Gerd Bucerius, Gordon Craig, Geza Cziffra, Lil Dagover, Ida Ehre, Ruth Elias, Lisa Fittko, Therese Giese, Hans Habe, Werner Heisenberg, Hartmut von Hentig, Marianne Hoppe, Friedrich Hundertwasser, Hans Jonas, Robert Jungk, Ephraim Kishon, Anette Kolb, Fritz Kortner, Rolf Liebermann, Konrad Lorenz, Yehudi Menuhin, Margarete Mitscherlich, Linus Pauling, Edgar Reitz, Ledig Rowohlt, Hans Sahl, Fritz Stern, Elsbeth Weichmann, Carl Friedrich and Richard von Weizsäcker and Peter Zadek.

The interview material can be organized by people, topics, professions, and places and allows to listen to the interviews, some of them several hours long. A systematic comparison of the contents of the interviews therefore is possible. The audio files are complemented by short introductions to the interviewees, a biogram of Harald von Troschke and photo material provided by the heirs together with the audio-estate, which aims to make the estate accessible for researchers and interested citizens.
