The Social Science AI Lab for Research-Based Learning (SKILL) is a research and teaching project jointly carried out by the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) at the European University Viadrina as well as the research units Web Technology and Information Systems (Webis) and Virtual Reality and Visualization Research at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Together with students, it is building the currently largest annotated text corpus in the field of international relations theory for feeding an AI-based argument search engine. It also develops a visualisation technology of argumentative structures and innovative didactic concepts for the use of AI in higher education.

SKILL is supported by the Federal Ministry of Science, Education and Research, the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society in the funding line "Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education" in the years 2021 - 2025 with approximately €2 million (EUV share: €1.042 million).
