CRICULT COST Action CA24125 — Management Committee Meeting & International Conference

16 September — The Action's Management Committee convenes to review progress across all Working Groups and set priorities for the year ahead.

17–18 September — The public conference "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis: Transformations, Risks and Governance" follows at Collegium Polonicum, Słubice, organised by the Chair for Heritage Studies at the European University Viadrina in cooperation with Collegium Polonicum, within the framework of WG4.

Two days of sessions trace how living heritage survives — or fails to survive — moments of rupture:
Continuity and transformation opens the conference, from ritual space after Vatican II to food practices, syncretic architecture, and Indigenous heritage in crisis.
Digitalisation and preservation looks at the risks and opportunities of documenting heritage online — from Ukrainian wartime songs to post-earthquake digital mourning in Türkiye.
Law and governance, closing the conference, asks whether legal frameworks can protect heritage without freezing it — from IP law and biocultural community protocols to cross-border governance and national implementation of the 2003 UNESCO Convention.

The conference opens with a plenary by Dr. Clizia Franceschini and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jelena Pavličić Šarić, framing the two days around one question: what makes heritage alive, and what does it take — legally, socially, technologically — to keep it that way through crisis?
