In May 2025, the Chair for Heritage Studies at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Studies, European University Viadrina, partnered with the University of Belgrade, Polytechnic University of Timișoara, and the University of Opole to host in Belgrade the Spring School Heritage Horizons 2025. Organised under the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), this innovative academic initiative brought together 23 students from diverse countries, including Armenia, France, Germany, Japan, Palestine, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Uganda, and Vietnam, to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Banat region and its neighbouring areas.
The program focused on the complex dynamics of shared heritage, examining how historical border shifts have influenced the preservation, reinterpretation, and cultural policies surrounding monuments and sites. Students collaborated in four thematic groups, delving into topics such as style and materiality, interconnectedness, visibility of different groups, and the use and reuse of monuments. Their research resulted in insightful online group presentations, now accessible in the Spring School Heritage Horizons 2025 section of the Chair’s website.
